Welsh Language Scheme

The Audit Commission's Welsh Language Scheme was developed to comply with the Welsh Language Act 1993 and received the approval of the Welsh Language Board on 21 May 1999. We are currently engaged in our three yearly review of the scheme to encompass the changes that are taking place within the organisation and in the field of public services in Wales.

The Audit Commission adopts the principle that in the conduct of public business in Wales, it will treat the Welsh and English languages on the basis of equality, with both languages enjoying the same status and validity.

The Scheme covers all Audit Commission staff and private accountancy firms when they are exercising the function of an appointed audit supplier under the Audit Commission Act 1998.
